Krista Chambless

Krista is a native of Alabama and a proud, three time graduate of the University of Alabama. Krista comes from a long line of teachers. Her great-grandmother taught school in a one room school house. There have been teachers in every generation since. She always knew she wanted to be a teacher. In highs school she had an amazing French teacher who inspired her love of languages. As an undergraduate, Krista began studying Spanish as well and became certified to teach P-K-12 in both French and Spanish. She has taught at every level P-K -Graduate school) and loved each experience. She is currently teaching at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she coordinates the elementary Spanish program. Additionally, she teaches world language methods courses for the UAB School of Education. Krista has a passion for all things language and teaching and loves to exchange ideas with other educators.

Aside from teaching, Krista loves to travel, read and spend time with friends. Her absolute favorite activity is spending time with her family (especially her grandson!) and going to Alabama football games with them. Roll Tide!

Sandrine Hope

Sandrine grew up in the Savoie region in France. She has been in the US since 1992 (it was in November but it still counts as '92!). She started as an Au Pair in Alabama, and remained in Alabama until June 2019 when she relocated to South Carolina.

She never pictured herself as a teacher when dreaming of her future, but teaching French has become one of her life passions. She has taught at various levels, including elementary, middle, high school and mostly university. She has been fortunate to teach at the University of Alabama (UA), Samford University, Davidson College, and is currently an online professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She is also in the process of starting her own publications (stay tuned for more details)

In addition to teaching, Sandrine enjoys meeting colleagues at conferences, doing pottery (she was getting pretty good at it before having to stop because of COVID-19), playing with her various pets, and most of all spending time with her family.

Roll Tide!
